Ron Cortese, founder of Legends Sports League, has always been “big into sports.”  In addition to being an amateur athlete (well, D3 tennis!), he has experience in running corporate leagues, including racquetball.  An “aha” moment came into play when Ron began playing baseball as an adult in 2000.  The league he was in – an adult recreational baseball league in Virginia – came up for sale.

Ron worked in IT at the time and remembers thinking, “it would be nice to try something different,” so after some due diligence he decided to try to buy the league.  As it turned out, he was one of ten bidders and his offer was somewhere in the middle, so that deal didn’t play out.  But that didn’t stop the budding entrepreneur in his tracks…he decided to “start from scratch and build my own league” in a different county in Virginia.  He started off with baseball, then added adult basketball and both did very well, very quickly… so he took on basketball youth, a golf league for adults and youth and most recently a pickleball league.

“My first challenge was to get the word out,” is how Ron puts it.  “But once I did, we began to grow.” 

And now Ron wants to expand the Legends Sports League name and brand throughout Virginia and beyond.  Are you ready to be a member of the Legends Sports League team?
